- Recently, the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) has released a new variety of wheat named Pusa Yashasvi.
- It is also known as HD-3226. It has higher genetic yield potential (at 79.6 quintals) as compared to other varieties of wheat. Pusa Yashasvi has a higher content of zinc, protein, and gluten (which contributes to the strength and elasticity of the dough).
- High Protein content (12.8% average), High dry and wet gluten, Good grain appearance, high sedimentation value, high extraction rate, Average Zinc content 36.8 ppm
- HD 3226 has perfect Glu-1 Score (10) with highest bread quality score (6.7) and bread loaf volume indicating its suitability for various end use products.
